The purpose of this role is the primary end to end responsibility for the valuation for the Life Insurance business.
This role works to manage work flow and develop knowledge across the team to deliver outputs efficiently and on time for the business and in relation to our statutory requirements. It requires collaboration with other team members in the development of new ways of thinking and managing the portfolio. The person in this role is expected to be pro-active and follow through tasks to completion.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Deliver key actuarial inputs to the annual strategic planning and forecast including delivery into other finance teams and assisting the business partners to communicate the results to the Leadership Teams.
- Deliver actuarial inputs to the Group Stress Testing and ICAAP process.
- Maintain and enhance current actuarial valuation processes considering speed, quality and simplicity.
- Documentation of process/enhancements, management of key person risk and strengthen the risk management and internal controls within the actuarial function.
- Co-ordinate, review and assist to deliver Policy Liabilities (and profit), Embedded Values, and shareholder capital requirements as disclosed in Half Yearly Investor Reports, Statutory / Life Act reports, Quarterly Board Risk Reports, and financial condition investigations required.
- Delivery of insight, forward looking strategic thinking and developing new and better ways of managing the portfolio to support the analysis, advice and insights delivered by the Business Partners.
Requirements
- Fellowship of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (IAA) or similar with an overseas Actuarial Institute recognized by the IAA. Candidates close to qualification who are continuing studies to qualification and have relevant experience may be considered.
- Strong understanding of the products and systems within the AMP Group is preferred but not essential.
- Prior responsibility for staff desired but not a pre-requisite.
- Prophet (or equivalent actuarial software) experience desired but not a pre-requisite
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong technical skills and the ability to develop logical solutions to new problems.
- Ability to apply good commercial judgement
- Proven ability to work proactively with a strong use of initiative.
